Rumor Has It, I Rule
You are a man of ambition, and the council’s highest seat lies within reach. You have twenty days to win the majority of votes and claim your place as Head of the Council.
To sway the other members, you may earn their trust by sharing rumors… or strike fear by revealing their secrets, even blackmailing them if you must. Investigate to uncover evidence… or forge it, should the need arise.
Each member has their own weaknesses. Some rumors are more likely to be true about certain people, and not all scandal carries the same weight in every mind.
Plot wisely. Speak slyly. Claim the power.
The council members' preferences don't change between runs.
Made for Kenney Jam 2025. I didn’t have time to add council rooms, an options menu, or polish the UI but it’s still pretty fun to play (even if it takes a bit of trial and luck). Hope you enjoy it!

I really like the idea and the interpretation of the theme!
The aesthetics and vibes with the music is very nice .
I would love maybe a stronger visual or sound effect to clarify when the day passes, it took me half way to realize that every time I listened a day passed. It doesn't feel that my actions have a massive imppact, but thats understadable with how short the jam was.
I think it has very nice potential and looks very polished :)
Thank you ! I know the game is confusing, sorry, I really wish I had one more day
It took me a bit to find the perfect way to gather and spread intel but once I figured it out it was really fun to try and get everyone to vote for me.
The 8-bit style and music is also absolutely lovely, and the writing is very charming. You did a hell of a good job with the resources available to you!
Thank you very much!
I love the premise of this game. It has me really hooked in the game. The music is a okay, fits the atmosphere (can be improved). Love the pixel arts of the characters, lovely.
However, there are a few things I want to point out:
1/ Clarity - I have no idea what is happening, why and when. There should be a visual or audio cue that helps. Especially between all the buttons on the screen. A tutorial would be nice.
2/ Promises - The game excution doesn't really deliver on the premise of rumors. That is due to the lack of clarity provided in the game. I don't feel my actions has any weight to them, nor are there any logic behind each and every rumors, it is just pressing a 'Listen to Rumors' button to increase the parameters
Overall, an interesting and promising premise, love to see it when you have polished it more. 6.5/10
Thanks, yeah I noticed how the game was confusing when playtesting it. I rushed the tutorial / intro like 30 minutes before the end and I realize I should have be much more explicit. I agree there is too little feedback on action.
But there is logic behind rumors, i don't know how much you tested the game but the character like to hear certain kind of rumor and are more or less affected by blackmail or public denunciation depending what kind of rumors it is. Also you can investigate on these rumors and if you can find evidence, they have much more impact. I know the game is confusing so I understand you didn't feel that.
I do agree that there are a lots of efforts put behind the rumors. But without enough telegraphing what is happening, the player wouldn't feel that.
I believe if you expand this concept further, it can be a very fun detective-like game.
Try your best!
Yes, it's totally my fault if the players don't feel that. How would you expand this? I'm not sure in which direction I could go
